Coleman Red Canyon Tent

I have been keeping my eye out for a tent that could accommodate 6+ people for a few weeks.  I bought this last weekend at a community yard sale for $5.  Retail prices seem to be about $140, so I thought it was worth the risk!  It is a Coleman Red Canyon and sleeps 8.   I set it up and was very happy with the interior size.  It was pretty easy to put up.  It also has a rain fly.  It is supposed to have walls for 3 rooms, but only had one, that's ok with me.  For $5 I was expecting much less!

$10.00

1 globe
1 pie pan
1 wire cooling rack
1 Mickey Mouse T-shirt size 18m
1 bag of assorted Easter eggs - probably 20-25 all sizes
1 very new looking sippy cup
1 Fisher Price bouncer (with batteries)

Notes: I spent only $5 on the bouncer, which I purchased as an extra bouncer to keep upstairs once the baby is here. I consider it as a higher liklihood that I will get a shower! It was pretty well loved, but I washed the cover with the whites (added a little bleach) and it came out impressively clean. It even has some leftover battery power - yipee!

The globe is kind of old - I got it for $3. It still has Russia as USSR. Regardless, Caleb loves spinning it.

The other items will be useful.

$1.50

1 nice plate for cookies and such
1 clock

Notes: The clock I bought is for Caleb. I read an article in Wondertime Magazine about young children and time. I plan to re-do the face of the clock so that the numbers are replaced with animals. On the hands I'll put a very fast animal on the second hand, a very slow animal on the hour hand, and a very in between animal on the minute hand. Then, when Caleb is old enough to ask me when we're having lunch or going to the playground, I can say, "We'll leave when the cheetah visists the bear." or something like that.

$1.75

6 forks
8 balls
1 cheese slicer
1 egg slicer
1 shelf organizer

Notes: The cheese slicer is absolutely worthless. I am going to throw it away. Everything else, what a bargain!

$1.50

1 small cutting board
1 biscuit cutter with handle
2 paperback books (Jane Eyre, Tale of Two Cities)

Notes: The biscuit cutter is made by Kwik-Kut of New York. Actually the website says it is a food chopper, which I guess makes it a multi-tasker. I like that. Jane Eyre is in great condition, Tale of Two Cities - not so much, but it is content that I wanted.

$6.50

1 3 piece baby boy outfit (gift for Cyndi)
1 salad spinner
9 plastic Winnie the Pooh blocks for Caleb

Notes: The baby outfit was in perfect condition and super cute as well. It was also high quality material. It appeared that the seller had received it as a gift, but had a baby girl and did not use it. The salad spinner was lightweight plastic, but seems to work very well. I have needed one for some time. The blocks look well loved, but I sanitized them and ran them through the dishwasher. I think they are what are left of 2 five-block sets. I paid $.50 for the whole lot of them.

$.50

2 plastic flower pots
1 copy of The Joy of Cooking

Notes: The plastic pots were probably not worth more than the $.25 I paid for them – although they would cost more retail – however it is very hard to find plastic pots in stores and I had a need for extra plastic pots. The copy of The Joy of Cooking was a real bargain. The outside cover was pretty banged up, but the inside was in excellent condition with no writing on any of the pages. Additionally I made a perfect pie crust using their recipe and found that it has a lot of helpful cooking advice, not just recipes.
